Governor Charlie Crist and…Doors Frontman Jim Morrison?!

In Uncategorized on November 18, 2010 at 3:59 pm

Finally, something fun to write about since the elections ended over 2 weeks ago!

Finally, a project that can get Governor Charlie Crist in front of the cameras again.

Is it going to change the world? Probably not but, having “the Guv” clear the name of one of the most popular musical figures in history, would not be a bad way to go out.

Charlie Crist is prepared to ask Florida’s clemency board to pardon The Doors lead singer Jim Morrison for a 1969 Miami concert incident in which Morrison allegedly revealed too much of himself during the performance.

I wish there was someone, I could compare Jim Morrison to, in music today but, I just can’t think of anyone off hand (a rock and roll Eminem, I guess?). When I think about it, there really isn’t anyone that’s ever been like Morrison. He was bizarre, vulgar, but he was a musically gifted.

This of course is the sweetest of PR candy. It’s already gotten a great amount of media coverage and its got a nice guy ring to it, that the Guv can sink his teeth into. The lawyer in Crist can also point out that, there was no physical evidence that could prove that Morrison went through with “The full monty” that night and that might be enough.

with all that being said, here are 5 Door’s songs, that Charlie Crist should perform on karaoke night, after leaving office in no particular order.

1. L.A Woman
2. Riders on the storm
3. Light my fire
4. Love me two times
5. The end (a’capella, one hour before Rick Scott is sworn in)

Thank you Charlie..

Ok, I'll sing Riders on the Storm if we can get an organ in here
