“Special Interest Joe” slams Saunders with humor… And residency questions

RPOF has released one of the better attack ads you’ll see this year. Take a look.

That’s Joe Saunders, the candidate for State House 49 aka the “UCF Seat” which is going to be one of the most competitive districts in the state.

Let’s put it on the “Awww Snap” Meter.

It’s hilarious and using the “South Park” treatment that Sandy Adams used against John Mica this year it not only entertains but hammers home it’s talking points.

Saunder’s ties to Broward county are easy to find and he’s even mentioned it on the stump a couple of times so, the crashing at “Joe’s Bro’s” house is believable (the bunny slippers and bag of money are a nice touch btw) then there is the Super Mario/Scott Pilgrim grab for coins that continues the “Joe wants mo dough” dialogue. Then there is the final costume change that portrays Saunders erupting from an explosion of money and flying away as “Special interests Joe”.

The humor approach in the ad is key because painting Saunders in black and white graphics, and hurling clumsy allegations his way won’t convince the voters when they hear the guy on the stump. He’s an upbeat guy. This ad says “Hey he’s friendly, but he’s really friendly to the special interests” and he doesn’t have the deep roots to the district that he says he has.

It’s a fine ad that will not only remain in the minds of voters but effectively gives Saunders a nickname he doesn’t want heading into November.

It’s funny, it’s informative, and it essentially renames the candidate

He’s got a showdown with Marco Pena in race that is going down to the wire.
