Here is a video addressing an initiative to make Orange County politics even more partisan.

Transcript:

Florida Politics with Frank Torres and today, I want to talk about an initiative to make Orange County races partisan. It’s funny, I was at my voting precinct a few nights ago, early voting, very pleasant experience by the way, in and out in 15 minutes. Very little wait at all. But, I was approached by a petitioner and he asked me if I wanted to fill out a petition, I asked him what it was. He kinda stumbled through the description of it and I had read about this initiative or the buzz about it before, and automatically knew what it was and politely declined. My question is, why do we want to inject partisanship into local government, why do we want to take the problems that we’re having in Washington D.C and Tallahassee and then bring it back here, bring it home to Orange County? Why would we want to do that? Why would the citizens want to take an already violent political environment and make it worse. Still, this initiative is being taken and there are people behind it, trying to push this thing along. Petitions being submitted to the county government, a very sensitive issue these days, you’ll recall the Orange County sick fight, the petitions being submitted over that, the route that ultimately took, that was one of the most violent political environments that we had seen in some time and now there are groups that want to take that violence to the next level. But anyways, this is what’s going on, letting you know what I’m seeing on the ground, now if you’re approached by one of those petitioners, you’ll have a full field of sight, to what that petition is, a very curious initiative, a very suspicious initiative but now you know, for Florida Politics with Frank Torres, I’ll see you next time.
