Bill Nelson wins Re-election, beats Connie Mack IV

Bill Nelson has defeated Connie Mack IV in the U.S Senate Race.

Instant Analysis:

Was Mack ever a serious threat to Nelson? I don’t think so. When we were previewing this race, it was difficult to find a poll where Mack was ahead. At best you would find one where Nelson was only up by 5. Still, Mack’s easy primary and only one debate to really confront Nelson never gave him the opportunity to show the voters he was a real alternative to Nelson. The Florida GOP will learn and do a better job reinforcing it’s candidates. The last second entry from former Congressman Dave Weldon and the consideration from CFO Jeff Atwater didn’t help either. Nelson will go back to Washington and doing his part to re-enforce the lead the Democrats have in the Senate.
